Valentine’s Day is almost here, and you have a date night planned with your man. You know what you’re wearing and how you’re doing your hair, but are you unsure about your makeup? I’m here to help. Valentine’s Day is all about love and looking good for your loved one, whether you’re staying home or going out. When we look good, we feel good!
As a busy mom, I need a makeup look that doesn’t take more than 15–30 minutes. That is why the ”Clean Girl” look is a go-to. It’s all about comfort and embracing your feminine era. While bold looks are great, Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to embrace your natural beauty with a ”no-makeup” look. It’s refreshing and quick, perfect for when you’re waiting for the sitter to arrive.
In this blog post, I give you a step-by-step tutorial for a clean no-makeup makeup look. I also included some product recommendations you need to complete this whole look.

What You’ll Need:
Make sure you have your brushes, a hydrating primer, skin tint, brow gel, concealer, and liquid blush. Remember: always start with your skincare routine so your makeup sits perfectly on your skin. Finish with a bit of highlighter on your cheekbones and some lip gloss, and you’re ready to go!
Step-by-Step Clean Girl Tutorial
Step 1: Prep with Skincare
Before reaching for your makeup, start with your usual skincare routine. The key to a ”clean” look is healthy-looking skin. Apply your favorite moisturizer to create a smooth, hydrated base, so your makeup won’t look cakey or dry.

Step 2: Prime and Smooth
Apply your primer or a base moisturizer. This helps your makeup stay in place all night and fills in any fine lines or pores. It’s the secret to making your skin look polished and fresh for the whole date.
Step 3: Lightweight Base
Instead of a heavy foundation, apply a lightweight skin tint or foundation. You want something that evens out your skin tone but still lets your natural skin shine through. Blend it in well with a brush or a damp sponge.
Step 4: Define the Brows
Use your brow gel to add a little color and brush your brow hairs into place. This is essential for the ”clean girl” look because it frames your face without looking too ”drawn on.”
Step 5: Brighten with Concealer
Apply a small amount of concealer under your eyes to brighten them and on any dark spots you want to hide. This makes you look well-rested (even if the kids kept you up!) and keeps the look very clean.
Step 6: The ”Natural” Flush
Dab a little liquid blush onto the apples of your cheeks. We prefer liquid over powder here because it blends into the skin beautifully, making it look like you are naturally blushing because of your Valentine’s date!
Step 7: Set the Under-Eyes
To make sure nothing moves, use a little bit of setting powder. Focus mainly on your under-eye area and any spots that tend to get oily during the day.
Step 8: Add a Little Glow
Apply your highlighter to the ”high points” of your face: your cheekbones, the tip of your nose, and just under your eyebrows. This gives you that ”glittering” natural glow when the light hits your face.
Step 9: The Perfect Pout
If you want your lips to pop, start with a lip liner in a slightly darker shade to define your lips. Finish it off with a clear or tinted lip gloss for a hydrated, polished look.
Step 10: Lock it in
Give your face a quick mist of setting spray. This locks everything in place so you don’t have to worry about your makeup for the rest of the night.
And that is how you achieve your clean girl ”no-makeup” makeup look this Valentine’s Day! The best part about this routine is that it’s quick and easy, it won’t even take you more than 20 minutes of your time.
Have fun on your date!
